Happy Valley Racecourse, c. 1850

In the mid 19th century, a group of racing enthusiasts found a piece of swamp land in a valley, reclaiming it to be a racing ground for practicing equestrianism. With development for a century, this ground, known as the Happy Valley Racecourse, has become a world-class racecourse for thoroughbred flat racing.
