Change of Exhibition Venues

Only the first two Exhibitions of Chinese Products were held indoor. All the subsequent exhibitions were held at outdoor venues. As the urban area of Hong Kong was short of land for large-scale exhibitions, for many years – in particular the 1960s and 1970s – the exhibitions were held on newly reclaimed land. However, the floor of such reclaimed land was not paved, but only covered with mud and sand. In order to attract more visitors to come to the exhibitions, parking lots and bus stops were located near to the entrance of the exhibition venue. Initially, the exhibitions were held at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. With the scale of the exhibition expanding and the number of exhibitors increasing every year, the exhibitions were moved to the relatively remote areas, such as the newly reclaimed harbour front at Mong Kok,.

The photos in this section offer different angles of view upon the exhibition venue. One can compare the appearance of the venue before and after the construction of the exhibition site is completed. In addition, these photos also allow one to enjoy the different scenes of the decorations of the venue in the daytime and in the nighttime. The photos also depict the unique design of entrance gates for each exhibition, the stylized booths, and the large number of visitors at the exhibition site.
