Products Display

The industrial products exhibition was an important platform for Hong Kong manufacturers of the earlier decades to show and promote their locally made products. It was a good event for the general public in Hong Kong and foreign companies to know more about Hong Kong industries. As early as the 11th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products (1953-1954), the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) has set up a “Gallery for Samples of Manufactured Products” to showcase local manufacturer’s industrial products. Later, besides display counters set up by individual manufacturers, industrial associations had also set up pavilion to show the new products and developments of the industry. For example, the Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers’ Association, the Chiu Chau Plastic Manufacturers Association, and the Hong Kong & Kowloon Plastic Products Merchants United Association had jointly set up a Plastic Pavilion in the 29th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products (1971-1972).

To encourage competition in a positive way, since the 15th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products, CMA has set up a pavilion to display new products and products of improved design by the exhibiting manufacturers. The CMA also launched industrial products decoration contest, new products contest, and packaging award.

To facilitate overseas companies to make orders on displayed products in the exhibitions, since the 13th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products, Hong Kong Post Office has established a temporary post office in the exhibition venue, enabling foreign buyers to mail product samples back to their home companies. The CMA also set up a trade enquiries office since the 14th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council and CMA had also co-hosted a display pavilion in the 25th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products (1967-1968).
