Wong Chun-Por was born in his home town, Raoping, in 1959. The Wong family was farmers in a rural village.In as early as 1950s Wong’s father came to Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant. In the beginning he worked at grocery stores and rice shops.Later he opened a stall selling fruit in Mong Kok. In the mid-1970s the stall moved into Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei. Wong Chun-Por grew up in his hometown. He graduated from a rural secondary school. In 1980, he came to Hong Kong and united with his father. In around 1981 the fruit stall changed to selling leather travel cases and travel bags. The operating hours shortened. He integrated into the local society gradually and witnessed the changes of Temple Street since 1980. The Wong family stall became a gathering place for Chiuchow native, they would gather to chat and have tea here. They formed a small community to exchange news about their hometown. At first Wong lived at the stall with his father. Later, they moved to Tak Lee Building, Mau Lam Street and Peace Building. He was married in 1983 and his son was born and grew up in Hong Kong. He spent his childhood in Temple Street.
