- The 1st Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award
The first Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award presentation ceremony held at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel on 20th February 1979. Singers receiving awards included Adam Cheng, Roman Tam, Jenny Tseng, Paula Tsui, Fanny Wang, Sam Hui, Teresa Cheung, Teresa Teng and Lisa Yuen. Apart from the awards for singers, there were also awards for composers and lyricists.

From the 6th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award onwards, the award presentation concert injects charitable elements into the event by raising funds for various charities. The "Four Heavenly Kings" engaged in charity while pursuing success in their music career. Each of them was honoured with calligraphy of a Chinese character from the phrase for "Heavenly Kings of Charity".
