The Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Association had founded an evening school for the grassroots people in Man Chun Girls' Secondary School on Pokfulam Road.
- Graduation Ceremony of The University of Hong Kong held yesterday
Graduation Ceremony was held at the University of Hong Kong on 31 May 1940. Forty-seven students graduated from various faculties. Acting Governor N. L.Smith, Acting Colonial Secretary R.A.C. North, Vice-chancellor of the University of Hong Kong Dr. Sloss, Chow Shou Son, Lo Man Kam, Tam Ngar Tse and Soong Ching Ling were also present.
- Summer workshops for middle school teachers
The Ministry of Education had decided to hold summer workshops for teachers of overseas Chinese secondary schools in the summer holiday. Hsu Ti-shan and Irene Cheng were among those appointed to the committee.
- Final of university students’ academic competition held in end of July
Lingnan University, Guomin University and Canton University had finalized the list of candidates who passed the entrance examinations held in Hong Kong. The report recorded logistics of the final examination.
- Application for central admission to national universities and colleges starts today
Announcement of central admission to national universities and colleges in 1940: The Hong Kong office of universities in Kunming started accepting applications from today. Prospectuses were available to interested candidates at the admission office set up in Sai Nam Secondary School. The report also included an extract released by the admission office.
- Some schools closed down under the strictly enforced new code of education
A new code of education regarding sanitation requirement for schools was announced by the Department of Education in January 1940. A number of schools had to close down because they were far below the standard.
- Territory-wide Students Essay Competition organized by the student department of YMCA
The Territory-wide Christian Students Essay Competition jointly organized by Hong Kong Christian Students Association and the student departments of YMCA and YWCA was held on 10 May 1941. The report stated the application procedures.
- Lingnan, True Light, Heep Woh, Pui Ching and Pooi To plan to open branch schools in Qujiang
In face of unrest in Hong Kong, Lingnan, True Light, Heep Woh, Pui Ching and Pui To planed to open branch schools in Qujiang. The new schools started class in September 1941, the schools in Hong Kong would operate as usual.
- The Hong Kong Boy Scouts held skills competition yesterday
The Hong Kong Boy Scouts Skill Contest was held on 25 May 1940 at the Diocesan Boys' School, Kowloon. The Governor and Director of Education were present. The contests was presided by Commander-in-chief of British Army and the Chief Captain.
- Lingnan, True Light and other schools plan to set up a joint school with primary and secondary sections.
A number of shools, including Lingnan and True Light, planned to establish joint primary and secondary schools. These schools were scheduled to start classes in Guilin in the autumn of 1941.
