The Asile de la Sainte Enfancewas an institution established by the Sisters of St Paul de Chartres for the care and education of orphan girls, elderly women and those with disabilities. Starting from a foundling home in 1848, the home moved to Praya East in Wanchai in 1851 and gradually extended its service.The group of buildings included the Industrial School, Blind Asylum, Almshouse, Hospital, Novitiate and Boarding School. The Anglo-French section of the boarding school was commonly known as the French Covent School, which later became St Paul's Convent School.
