  • A tebleau of a herbal tea shop
In the Hong Kong Story Gallery of the Hong Kong Museum of History, there is a tableau that reconstructs a herbal tea shop of the past few decades in Hong Kong. The installations include an old-style radio which plays radio dramas and music of the time, and a jukebox which offers a range of music choices, at the drop of a coin and push of a button.
  • Gourd-shaped urn
The gourd-shaped urn for herbal tea and bowls of the decoction ready for consumption, covered to prevent dust, are a familiar sight associated with the traditional herbal tea shop. The gourd has long been associated with “herbal doctors” in Chinese culture and history through an ancient legend, hence the icon.
