Topping-out ceremony, Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps Headquarters, 1987

This photo shows the topping-out ceremony for the headquarters building of the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps in 1987. The Sea Cadet Corps, established in 1968, shared a small office and the facilities at the then Royal Navy base at Tamar site to provide nautical training for youth. In 1987, it established its own headquarters building at Diamond Hill, with a HK$4 million donation by the Jockey Club. The Club's Chief Executive, Major General Guy Watkins, officiated at the topping-out ceremony on 11 April 1987.
