Connaught Road Central near Triangular Pier, Sheung Wan

Piers along the waterfront handled cargoes for China, Hong Kong, and Macau ferries. For the convenience of visitors, budget hotels sprang up round the area. As ships were often berthed in the harbour, boats had to be hired to transport passengers and cargoes between ships and shore. Signboards advertising the hire of boats were put up at piers as shown in the postcard.
