Clean Hong Kong Campaign

In the 1970s, the Government promoted a “Keep Hong Kong Clean” Campaign and the exhibition became a platform to advertise this Campaign. The Campaign was jointly organized by the exhibition, the Urban Council, the Urban Services Department, and the Government Information Services at the 28th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products (1970-1971). The Campaign was widely supported by numerous schools. Students joined the Campaign as volunteers, monitoring and asking the exhibition visitors to put rubbish into the rubbish bins. In addition, companies, such as Koon Nam Wah & Co., also organized a “Bride Cleaning Campaign” and the “Bride Cleaning Photography Contest” in response to the government’s call for keeping Hong Kong clean.

During the 30th (1972-1973) and the 31st (1973-1974) Exhibitions, the Government set up counters to promote the “Keep Hong Kong Clean” Campaign. Exhibition booth models were stationed at the counters to disseminate information to the visitors about the Campaign.
