Sung Wong Toi Park, Kowloon City

Sung Wong Toi (meaning "Terrace of the Song Kings'" was originally built on a small hill on the western coast of Kowloon Bay. The temporary travelling palace of the Song emperor was inside the Pak Tai Temple nearby at that time (In 1277, the boy emperors of the Song Dynasty hid in this place to escape from the Yuan soldiers). The terrace was demolished by the Japanese army in order to expand the airport. Now, only the rock with the engraved characters "Sung Wong Toi" remains; it was moved to the Sung Wong Toi Park for commemoration.
