Pak Kung Temple in Central

Near to Peel Street in Central is a small temple called Pak Kung Temple. Pak Kung was a Chinese herbalist who practised Chinese medicine under a staircase on Elgin Street. He did not charge anything for medical consultation. Sometimes he would even given away medicine and money to the sick and needy. One August 15th Pak Kung "left the earth for heaven". The people of the district built a small temple at the bottom of the stairs to commemorate him. The temple has since been moved due to demolition of the building.
