Biography


Ir Professor Francis Wong is a Professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) as well as the Director of the Research Centre for Construction and Real Estate Economics (RCCREE) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was the Head of BRE from academic year 2005/6 to 2007/08, and is currently the Award Coordinator for the BSc (Hons) in Property Management. He has 30 years of academic and practical experiences, and has published more than a hundred papers in including journal articles, conference papers, professional journals, research monographs, and consultancy reports. His main research interests include affordable housing development, and construction safety.

Francis obtained his BSc (Hons) in Building from the then Brighton Polytechnic, MSc in Architecture from the London University, and his PhD from the South Bank University. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (FHKICM), and a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE). Francis is currently the Chairman of the International CIOB Health and Safety Advisory Sub Group (Hong Kong and Southern China). Also, he is the Chairman of the Student Chapter Committee and a Board Member of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB).
