  • Allocation of HKU student scholarships for studies in the University of Oxford
    It was reported that Rhodes Scholarship Fund Committee offered scholarships for students of the University of Hong Kong to study at the University of Oxford. On the other hand, the HKU British-based Council had donated £1,000 annually to support a student from China to study at the University of Hong Kong.
  • The Director of Education will amend the curriculum of Chinese for all schools in Hong Kong
    The Director of Education set up a vernacular curriculum review committee headed by the Inspector of Vernacular Schools, Wan Yiu Sing. Its aim was to compile a new curriculum that would meet contemporary needs and set up a standard for various schools. It was hoped that all schools would be asked to use the new textbooks in the following term.
  • Grand opening of the Fung Ping Shan Library, The University of Hong Kong
    Fung Ping Shan Library of the University of Hong Kong, built by funds donated by Mr Fung Ping Shan, was opened on 14th December 1932. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Governor, Sir William Peel. The news report recorded the speeches of Fung's descendant Fung Ping Wah, Sir William Peel, and Sir William Hornell, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong.

    The Hong Kong Secondary School Leaving Examination was originally administered by the University of Hong Kong. From 1935 onwards the examination would be conducted by individual schools.     St. Stephen's College held the 32nd Annual Prize Giving Ceremony. It was the 5th year since the school moved from Bonham Road to Stanley. The ceremony was opened with the Chairman's welcome speech followed by report (details provided) of Canon E.W.L. Martin, the school principal. Governor Sir William Peel also delivered a speech after the presentation of prizes.
