Application for admission to Hong Kong, Kowloon and Macau branches of Chun Wah Free School established by the Committee for Relief of Children in Hong Kong and Macau of the Canton Province Relief Association would be accepted from 22nd May 1939. Any unschooled child from the Canton war zone might apply. No tuition fees and miscellaneous fee were charged. A list of schools opened for application on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Macau was published in the advertisement.

It was reported St Paul's Girls' College will implement new measures to prepare students for university education in Hong Kong and overseas, which included the addition of teachers, and hours for the teaching of English language. It was reported that Rhodes Scholarship Fund Committee offered scholarships for students of the University of Hong Kong to study at the University of Oxford. On the other hand, the HKU British-based Council had donated £1,000 annually to support a student from China to study at the University of Hong Kong.
