The development of the Infield to accommodate more audiences dates back to July 1968 when it was discussed and approved at a Board of Stewards Meeting then. An underpass was constructed from Wong Nei Chung Road to Happy Valley Recreation Ground and Infield area to provide easy access. The Infield admission fee was HK$2 per head while admission fee to Public Stands was HK$10 per head.
