The Second Exhibition

The 2nd Exhibition of Chinese Products was organized by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Union (the older name of CMA) during 19-22 February 1939 in the South China Secondary School on Nathan Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon, and featured some 120 booths. CMA records indicated there were 75 participating manufacturers, while newspapers reported 104, among which most of them were textiles and food products manufacturers. Exhibited goods numbered over a thousand in kind, including fabrics, textiles, electric appliances, metal ware, toys, gas masks, and good products. The CMA invited guests from Mainland China to attend the opening ceremony with Hsu Shih-ying, the Chinese Ambassador to Japan, officiating the opening ceremony and giving an opening speech. The 4-day exhibition was organized during the Chinese New Year Holidays with visitors numbering over 50,000.
