Biography

Born in 1943, Wen Choy Bon was native to Changping, Dongguan. He lived in Wan Chai in his childhood. He studied at Sun Kiu Middle School, and dropped out after Senior Secondary Grade 2. He was referred by the school to work at Tien Chu Ve-Tsin Factory in To Kwa Wan as a trainee, and was responsible for the daily administration of the office. In 1968, Wen moved to the company dorm at Ma Tau Wai Road, To Kwa Wan. Later, the dorm was moved to the Tien Hung Building at Ma Tau Kok Road. He moved out in 1997. He had been actively engaged in the recreational activities of the workers’ union since the 1960s, and later participated in the local works of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU). In 1988, Wen was constituted Convener of the Ma Tau Kok Six Streets Reconstruction Concern Group. He acted as a facilitator among government departments, residents and merchants, striving for reasonable compensation and relocation for the residents and merchants. Wen left Tien Chu Ve-Tsin Factory in 1991, and was elected member of Kowloon City District Council. He had served five consecutive terms before retiring in 2011.
