Biography

Ng Lik Bor was born in Hong Kong in 1951 and his ancestral home is Machong, Dongguan. Ng Lik Bor’s parents were intellectuals, they came to settle in Hong Kong in 1948. At first, his father worked as a secretary in the Hong Kong Union of Chinese Workers in Western Style Employment. Later on, he worked in the Sun Luen Film Co. His mother was a teacher at the Hung Hom Workers’ Children Secondary School. Ng Lik Bor completed his primary education in the Workers’ Children Secondary School in Hung Hom and Mong Kok. In the early 1960s, Ng Lik Bor continued his studies in Guangzhou and took radio studies as the major subject. In 1971, he returned to Hong Kong and joined the electronic industry. He had worked as an engineer in several electronic factories in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, including the World Electronic Factories and the Luks Industrial. In the 1990s, he opened a computer factory in Mainland China. Ng Lik Bor had lived in Hung Hom and To Kwa Wan for several decades , including the tenement buildings in Cooke Street and Wan Fuk Street, as well as Wyler Gardens and Whampoa Estate. He was especially familiar with the changes that had taken place in the “Eight Wan Streets” and their surroundings. In recent years, he has served as Chairman of the Hoi-Bun Heritage Docents Society and engages in the study and promotion of local history.
