Biography

A native of Shunde, Leung Wai Ho was born in Hong Kong in 1949. Growing up in a grass-roots family, he dropped out of school at 15 to work in his uncle’s Leung Lung Kee Watch Case Factory (“Leung Lung Kee”) as an apprentice. After learning machine repair and watch case production, he was steadily advanced to a management level post. In 1978, he founded his own company, Dailywin Watch Products Manufacturing Limited (“Dailywin”), and started to expand his business. In 1987, Leung Wai Ho set up facilities in Dongguan, gradually moving production lines to the mainland. He then changed Dailywin’s operational mode from processing with supplied materials (“PSM”) to a foreign-invested enterprise basis. He also developed his retail business in China during the 1990s, first by consignments in shopping malls and then by operating retail stores. He finally quit the mainland retail market in 2003. From the early 1990s onwards, Leung Wai Ho has actively participated in public service, holding several key positions in the watch making industry and various political organisations in both Hong Kong and China.
