Tieh Wu-ching, chief constable of Tsang Chou, is a popular government official, honest and efficient. Then four bandits wreak havoc in his town and escape time and again, cleverly disguised.After the latest robbery, Tieh discovers part of the loot in a hawker’s crate. He attacks and kills the peddler, one Liang Yen-chung. But Liang’s cohort Peng Yun-chiang wounds Tieh. Tieh gets away but Peng’s chief Ma Wei-chia orders him and Li Pu-lo to eliminate the police chief.Tieh Wu-ching confronts them and kills both in a gory confrontation. He finally tracks down Ma himself, only to be wounded once again. Tieh flees on Ma’s mount, falls unconscious and is brought to the bandit’s home. Ma’s blind daughter Kuei Ku, mistaking Tieh for one of her father’s friends, nurses him back to health. The two fall in love.When Ma returns home, the two men agree to settle their differences in a duel and not to let Kuei Ku know her father’s a robber. Tieh kills Ma and the dying man begs him to look after his daughter.Tieh returns to Kuei Ku and marries her.
