This section contains interviews with six figures in the local textile industry. Ha Chung Fong, Chairman & Managing Director of Fountain Set (Holdings) Ltd. (Fountain Set), provided a useful overview of Hong Kong’s budding post-war textile industry, also comparing the development of the knitting and weaving factories. Chi Woo Wha, Deputy Managing Director of Central Fabrics Ltd. (Central Fabrics), told our interviewers all about fabrics factories’ operations and the leading companies and manufacturers in the field. Au Kwan Cheung, owner of the small knitting firm, Yick Sun, meanwhile, recalled the industry’s half-century evolution from initial emergence to eventual decline.

W. K. Chan, Managing Director of Yangtzekiang Garment, talked about his experience and analysed the impact of international negotiations on textile quotas on local manufacturers. Central Textiles (H.K.) Ltd. (Central Textiles), continues to operate well into the 21st Century. As such, its Managing Director, Cheng Chi Ping, is perfectly placed to address the slow decline of the local textile industry. Chan Kin Keung, Assistant General Manager of China Dyeing Holdings, Ltd. (China Dyeing), reviews the evolution of Hong Kong’s printing and dyeing industry after the war and explaining the relationship between changing sewage policies and the falling off of the industry.
