Patricia Lam Fung(1940-1976) was a young idol adored by the new generation of movie-goers in the post-war era of Hong Kong. She, at the age of 16, was admitted to the acting training class organized by the Shaw’s Cantonese film section. She then became a contract actress with Shaw’s. In 1957, she appeared in her debut film The Fairy’s Sleeves (1957). Her starlet status as a “Sweet Girl” was anchored by her roles in A Virtuous Girl from a Humble Household (1958), A Pretty Girl’s Love Affair (1958) and Sweet Girl in Terror (1958). From 1957 to 1962, she made over 50 films for the Shaw’s Cantonese film section and she had leading roles in over 30 of these films. “Southern Screen”, Shaw’s official magazine actually gave her the title “Shaw’s Treasure”. In 1976, she died, at the age of 36, of an overdose.
