Disguised as a scholar, Wei is accepted into the Tien’s home as a private tutor to Chi-chi (Huang Hsing-hsiu), the beautiful granddaughter of the family. Wei soon finds out that the Tien’s stronghold is actually headquarters for the anti-Ching movement led by feudal lord Wu. Meanwhile, Chi-chi’s grandfather discovers Wei’s identity as a spy from the Emperor. But at Chi-chi’s, instead of having Wei killed, he lets Wei marry Chi-chi on condition that the couple will never leave the family home.Wei discovers some letters concerning the revolt against the Chings in a secret compartment. In order to deliver them to the Ching Emperor, Wei asks Chi-chi to leave with him. Before they can do so, they have to fight their way through members of the family who are all martial arts experts, including the manservant, Chi-chi’s two uncles, Chi-chi’s mother and the grandfather who specializes in a special technique, the Shadowy Fists. In the fight, Chi-chi is killed by her grandfather while Wei manages to escape, though without the letters. In order to avenge his wife’s death, Wei sets out to visit Tang who supposedly is the only person with the particular martial arts skills that can counteract Grandfather’s Shadowy Fists, but is disappointed to learn that Tang was already passed away. At Tang’s grave, he watches a preying mantis capture its prey, and gets inspired to invent a new fighting technique - the Mantis Fists. With this new technique, Wei succeeds in defeating Chi-chi’s grandfather and recovering the secret letters which he then turns over to the Ching Emperor. But Wei’s father becomes deeply ashamed of what Wei has done in helping the Ching Emperor to suppress his own people. He puts poison in the wine, and ends his own life as well as that of his son.Player Go to Google Play/iTunes in case NO VLC apps was installed.
