Legend Of The Bat
A monk shows up during the annual auction on a mysterious island, the Island of the Bats, and places an order for the head of Chu Liu-hsiang. The owner of the island, Prince of the Bats, promises that the order would be ready for him at next year’s auction.Meanwhile, Chu Liu-hsiang (Ti Lung) is drinking with his friend Yi Tien-hung (Ling Yun) in an inn where they meet a couple, Li Yu-hsien (Yueh Hua) and his wife Liu Wu-mei (Ching Li). Chu later discovers that Liu actually wants him dead so she can take his head to the Island of Bats in exchange for a miraculous healing herb to cure her of a deadly disease she is suffering from. Chu then offers to go to the Island himself to get the herb for her.Chu finds his way to the shore of Qin Huai River and gets on the trail of Hsiang Fei-tien, the contact man from the Island. En route, he encounters a beautiful girl Chin Ling-chi and her mute servant who gets into a fight with Chu, and then flees with Chin. Chasing after them, Chu arrives at a mansion and finds Hsiang Fei-tien inside. At Chu’s request, Hsiang takes Chu, Chin and her servant onto a big boat. The owner of the boat Ting Feng warns them that uninvited visitors to the Island of the Bats would be subjected to the punishment of death. Chu is then amazed to find his friend Yi Tien-hung on board who also claims to be heading to the island on a mission to assassinate someone.That evening, Ting and Hsiang receive an order from the authority to kill Chu and the others. They even have the coffins all ready in the cabin. But later that night, Ting is instead found dead inside a coffin. Then several other passengers also die in a mysterious way. But by the time Chu discovers that Hsiang is responsible for these murders, Hsiang is also found dead. Shortly afterwards, the boat explodes. The empty coffins serve as life rafts for them as they aimlessly drift until they are picked up by another big boat coming their way. The owner of the boat Yuan Hsiu-yun (Derek Yee) treats them with courtesy. But to the astonishment of Chu and Yi, the couple Li Yu-hsien and his wife are among the other passengers, and so are Monk Mei Ku and Yuan Hsiu-feng (Liu Yung), both of whom Chu and Yi have encountered before. After a series of strange events on board, they finally arrive at the Island of the Bats where Chu is further greeted with danger and the most intriguing incidents.What is the real identity of the Prince of the Bats, and who is the monk that wants the head of Chu?
