The Garden Company Limited was founded in 1926 by Mr. Cheung Tse Fong and his cousin Mr. Wong Wah O. It was said that in its early days, Garden had a factory in Ap Liu Street of Shum Shui Po which produced biscuits and bread. Garden was a familiar face in the exhibitions after WWII. The brand started to join the exhibition in 1948 at the 6th Exhibition of Chinese Products. At the time, its booths featured a fluorescent light “red star” billboard, promoting its “Red Star” canned biscuits. Since then, Garden has taken part in each and every exhibition, displaying and selling candy biscuits.
For years, Garden’s booths at the exhibition have won numerous booth decoration awards. The brand’s beautifully designed outdoor restaurant at the 19th Exhibition (1961-1962) was particularly memorable. In 1971, the Scout Association of Hong Kong organized a “cookie charity sales” at Garden’s booth and invited celebrities to host a ribbon cutting ceremony.
