Ha Chung Fong was born in Xinhui in 1938. He moved to Hong Kong after the war, and studied civil engineering at a university. Later he had to give up his studies because of family reasons. In 1969 he and his friend founded a small dyeing factory. The factory was renamed as Globe Dyeing Factory Limited in 1977. Starting from scratch, he received orders for his dyeing business from local knitting factories. His business expanded to fabric printing, production of woven towel, velour and knitted fabrics. In 1981 he started Fountain Set (Holdings) Ltd to diversify its textile business. Products were exported to overseas markets. In 1996, the company set up production facilities in Sri Lanka which helped the development of knitting industry there and provided jobs opportunity to the people. Ha Chung Fong was proud of his company's achievements.
