Tam Pui Lin (Pui Lin) was born in Hong Kong in 1946. At first she lived in 10 Waterloo Road (it had been rebuilt twice and became today’s 8 Waterloo Tower). After marriage Pui Lin lived with his husband at Yau Ma Tei Six Streets (i.e. today’s Prosperous Garden). Now she lived in a tenement house in Reclamation Street. As young as 5 to 6 she had helped in her father’s stall in Yung Shu Tau Market (today’s Market Street). She was once held in police custody. In 1956 the stall moved to Reclamation Street Market. Pui Lin and 5 other siblings individually applied a license to start their business after they attained their legal age. Pui Lin had witness changes of Yau Ma Tei’s outdoor market. Her products also shifted from vegetables and melons to specialty food for wedding. Thus her stall became a special market stall.
