Yau Suk Fun was born in Hong Kong in 1945. After she got married in 1969, she moved to Yau Ma Tei and lived with her husband's family in Man Wah Sun Chuen. At first she helped her mother-in-law to run a mobile stall selling women’s ornaments. Later her mother-in-law moved the stall from Bowring Street to the junction of Canton Road and Nanking Street. It specialized in selling jade products after relocation. Yau Suk Fun continued to help in the stall. In 1972, she applied a hawker’s license and started her won stall alongside with her mother-in-law outside Jan Jan Tea House at Canton Road. By the middle of the 1980s, her stall moved to the Jade Hawker Bazaar in Kansu Street until today. Besides, she had been the Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Jade Association.
