Brief History:

Elec & Eltek International Company Limited (“Eltek”) was formed of Elec Computer Components Limited (“Elec”) and Eltek Memory Products Limited (“Eltek”). Elec was founded in 1972 by Mr. So Cheung Sing, Mr. Tsang Ming Pui and Mr. Tam Kam Ho, who had all worked for the American-funded Ampex Ferrotec Limited. Elect was the pioneer in the Far East in the production of double-sided printed circuit board, which was a highly profitable product. Mr. So and his colleagues subsequently founded Eltek in 1975 to produce computer memory. After 1979, they began making indoor cordless telephone for the US market. Elec and Eltek merged in 1981 to form Elec & Eltek International Company Limited, whose shares were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from 1984. In the 1980s, the company owned factories all over Hong Kong in locations such as San Po Kong, To Kwa Wan, Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long. Between the 1980s and 1990s, the company moved its production lines out of Hong Kong. It opened new factories in Mainland China as well as Thailand in 1988 and 1993 respectively. 1993 saw the listing of Elec & Elteks’ shares on the Singapore Exchange, and the development of data coupling products and LED monitors. In 2004, the company was acquired by Kingboard Chemical Holdings Ltd.
