The Shadow Boxer
Ku Ting (Chen Wo-fu) is an honest young road-construction worker. Though a skilled shadow boxer, he always tries to avoid being involved in unnecessary fighting. The construction gang Boss is called Chin. His son, Chin Ta-shen (Frankie Wei Hung) is a good boxer, but he is very conceited and brutal. He has employed a number of hirelings, including Teng Kai-hsi (Yang Tse-lin) to fight for him.Among the workers is a Kung Fu man called Hu Ping-lien (Tsung Chin-kuei). As he is a straightforward young man, he frequently clashes with the gangsters led by Teng Kai-hsi. Ku Ting tries to appease the anger of both parties; but he seldom suffers injuries, because being an expert shadow boxer, he can exercise such feats as ‘muscle control’ and ‘Karate self-defence’ which softens the enemy’s attacking force.Ku Ting often goes to Teacher Yang’s (Yang Chi-ching) house to learn and improve his shadow boxing skill. Yang’s daughter Yang Chen (Shih Szu) develops an affection for Ku Ting. But to her dismay, Ku Ting has already made close friends with a girl called A-pao (Chen Mei-hua). Yang Chen is jealous of A-pao, and in order not to aggravate her, Teacher Yang asks Ku Ting to stop coming to his home for the time being.Chin Ta-shen, hearing that Teacher Yang is a skilled Kung Fu exponent, challenges him to a tournament, but teacher Yang rejects the challenge. Chin Ta-shen is angered and orders several boxers to kill Teacher Yang. At the same time, A-pao, who is a maid-servant in Chin’s house, is raped by Chin Ta-shen. A-pao is so desperate after being raped, that she drowns herself in a river. These two said incidents sadden Ku Ting’s heart, and so he goes to Chin Ta-shen’s house, and accuses him of murdering A-pao. When Chin Ta-shen learns that Ku Ting is one of Teacher Yang’s disciples, he (Chin) challenges Ku Ting to a contest. But Ku refuses to fight back, when he is attacked. However, the non-violent policy of Ku Ting only adds fuel to the fire of Chin Ta-shen’s gang, and one day, some of the thugs attack and kill Hu Ping-lien. At this point, Ku Ting begins to realise that his non-violent policy only encourages the thugs to carry out their attacks more often than ever on innocent people. Hence, he (Ku Ting) starts to think of resisting the gangsters. One day, Yang Chen alone sneaks into Chin Ta-shen’s house to attack him, and so avenge her father’s death. While Yang Chen and Chin Ta-shen are locked in a duel, Teng Kai-hsi joins in the fight on Chin’s side. As a result, Yang Chen is defeated and captured alive by the thugs.Meanwhile, Ku Ting, with the aid of Yang Tung, a good kind-hearted boxer, manages to kill the thugs, who have previously murdered Hu Ping-lien.Then they rush to Chin’s house, and succeed in rescuing Yang Chen from Chin Ta-shen, and a severe fight ensues between Ku Ting, Yang Chen and Yang Tung on one side, and on the other side Chin Ta-shen, Teng-shen, Teng Kai-hsi and their gangsters. Chin Ta-shen kicks Ku Ting so hard, that he (Ku) is knocked unconscious, and the thugs think he is dead. Yang Tung is killed, and Yang Chen is recaptured by the thugs. Then while the thugs are removing the bodies of Ku Ting and Yang Tung, Ku Ting suddenly regains consciousness and attacks them. The thugs cannot resist Ku’s attack, and they are killed.Yang Chen frees herself and runs to meet Ku.Player Go to Google Play/iTunes in case NO VLC apps was installed.
