Chan Kin Keung was born in Hong Kong. After he had graduated from secondary school, he was admitted to National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. His major was chemical engineering. Upon graduation he returned to Hong Kong to begin his professional commitment in the textile industry. In 1972 he joined China Dyeing Works. At first he was placed at the printing department. Later he was promoted to supervisor and assistant manager. From 1979 to 1986, he stationed in Nigeria, West Africa to monitor the company's business in spinning, weaving, dyeing and printing. In 1986, he migrated to Australia. In 1992, he went back to Hong Kong and worked as assistant plant manager of China Dyeing Works. He was responsible for establishing a new plant in Yuen Long Industrial Estate, in particularly building sewage facilities in and moving machines to the Yuen Long factory. In 2006 he was promoted to Assistant General Manager of China Dyeing.
