Ng Kong was born in Xincun, Panyu in 1919. During his childhood he had attended private school in his hometown for 4 years. In his teenage he went to Canton in order to learn photography. After Canton was fallen to Japan, he went to Hong Kong and found refuge in his uncle’s. At the beginning he worked as a master photographer in Sun Sun Studio. In 1948, he started the Kong Kong Studio, which was his life-long career in Hong Kong. The studio was operated in different western-style buildings along Nathan Road and Jordan Road. Ng Kong joined the social circle of business owners in the neighbourhood of the studio. He participated in the founding of Yau Ma Tei Kaifong Welfare Advancement Association in 1949. From 1987 to 2000, he was Director of the kaifong association.
