Brief History:

Tins Chemical Corporation Ltd (“Tins Chemical”) was established in 1959. The founder, Tin Ka Ping used to run a rubber factory as well as a plastic material factory in Indonesia. When he migrated to Hong Kong in 1958, he bought land in Castle Peak Bay, Tuen Mun, and reclaimed part of the bay to obtain a building space up to the size of 300,000 square feet for his polyvinylchloride films factory. In the early 1960s, Tin Ka Ping successfully built several industrial buildings in Lai Chi Kok, Kwun Tong and Kwai Chung to make space for processing factories who bought thin polyvinylchloride films from him. In 1968, Tin worked with different government departments and bought a 60,000-square-foot land in Ping Shan for his new imitation leather sheeting factory. In 1974, Tin’s eldest son, Tin Hing Sin, joined the company. This signified the beginning of Tin’s handover to the next generation.

In 1976, the shareholders of Tins Chemical changed, and they moved all production lines into Ping Shan. The factory site at Castle Peak was turned into an industrial building for rent. Since the 1980s, Tins Chemical continued to improve the quality of their thin film and imitation leather sheeting. During the 1990s, the focus was on producing high-end thin film and leather for handbags. The production line was subsequently moved to Mainland China in the 1990s. In 1992 and 1999, respectively, new factories were built in Humen (Dongguan) and Guangzhou. The Tin family finally ended their manufacturing business in 2009.
