Acknowledgements

The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society would like to make the following acknowledgement:

The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society has received the support from many parties during the research into the history of Gangcai, chief among those were the willingness to make available for our interviews by the practitioners and to supply artefacts for research; The Robert H N Ho Family Foundation’s "Arts: Transforming Hong Kong" Grant (2016) supported the research required for the "Golden Splendours — 20th Century Painted Porcelains of Hong Kong" project; Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s Hong Kong Heritage Museum for co-editing with The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society on the demonstration videos of Gangcai painting masters; the volunteers who helped in the transcription of oral history and for organising the artefacts. The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society had for years benefited from the guidance and support from the consultants, together with the efforts from members with their own specialties, so that the archive can be completed.

Gangcai is not only an industry for the local economy, it is also a witness to history and culture of Hong Kong, by sharing the history on 20th century Gangcai, The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society wishes to raise the awareness of Gangcai among the public, and to appreciate the achievement of the Gangcai industry, raising the recognition of the identity of Hong Kong people, as well as encouraging people to share the materials. The Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society is a volunteering organization by people in Hong Kong, given our limited resources, the research is not perfect, with only little materials collected and narratives not comprehensive, we solicit for suggestions and point out any errors in the content!

On the other hand, Hong Kong Memory acknowledges the Hong Kong Ceramics Research Society for its contribution to provide the content and materials of this collection. We also thank the following individual and organisations for providing information and the use of valuable materials in their holdings.
