Hong Kong Chiap Hua Manufactory Company Limited

Chiap Hua was founded in 1922 by Mr. Cheng Chek-chee in Shantou. Mr. Cheng then established its subsidiary factory in Hong Kong in 1936, manufacturing mainly steel products. In 1940, Chiap Hua first joined the 3rd Exhibition of Chinese Products under the name Chiap Hua Steelworks, and belonged to the category of appliances, metal ware and toys.

In 1947, the Company re-registered itself as Hong Kong Chiap Hua Manufactory Company Limited. Besides producing steel, it manufactured flashlights, clocks and watches. After the exhibition resumed in 1948, Chiap Hua set up an exhibition booth at the 6th Exhibition of Chinese Products to display and sell its flashlight products. During the 1950s and 1960s, Chiap Hua was a regular exhibitor in the exhibitions. The Chiap Hua Manufactory Company has set up distinctive booths which enabled the Company to win the Champion and second-runner-up of the Product Display Competition at the 16th (1958-1959) and 25th (1967-1968) Exhibitions of Hong Kong Products respectively.
