Yan Chim Kee was known for its coconut candy. The brand was founded by Mr. Yan Kwok-lun, who was aptly known locally as “the king of coconut candy”. As early as 1940, Yan Chim Kee has set up exhibition booths at the 4th Exhibition of Chinese Products (1940-1941). As the exhibition resumed after WWII, Yan Chim Kee had been an ardent supporter of the exhibitions and set up a booth in every Exhibition, selling various types of candies. Compared to other manufacturers, Yan Chim Kee was rather low-profile. It was neither keen on joining exhibition booth decoration competitions, nor has it nominated its staff to participate in any Miss Exhibition contests. Its coconut candy, however, remains a household name. The coconut candy in Yan Chim Kee’s booth alone attracts adults and children alike and its taste remains memorable.
