Inspired by the huge success of the Woo Lung Wong comics, movie producers adapted the graphic elements of the paper comics into celluloid comedies centring on the blunders and antics of Wong Lung Woo and his cohorts, including Jim Jui Mau and George Cheung. Films such as The King of Blunders (1949), Much Ado About Nothing (1960), Silly Wong Growing Rich (1960) and Siu Po-po Pokes Fun at the King of Blunders (1960) starring the renowned actor Leung Sing Por as Wong provided generous doses of humour and songs, and registered commendable takings at the box office.
