Yeung Bo Yee was born in 1946 in Zhongshan and came to Hong Kong with her parents when she was just two. Here, her father worked in ICI and the family lived in company staff quarters in Causeway Bay. The family later bought a home in To Kwa Wan’s Thirteen Streetss area in 1960 and still lives in To Kwa Wan to this day. Yeung Bo Yee dropped out of school after completing Form 3 in 1963 before starting work in various garment and electronics factories. She subsequently transferred to a cleaning company and joined Asia Watch Dials Factory in San Po Kong two years later, once even assisting the factory owner in taking care of his factory in Thirteen Streetss. Yeung Bo Yee started to learn sewing skills after she got married in 1968 and then began taking sub-contracted jobs from factories to finish at home. In 1990, she re-entered the workforce and joined a cleaning company as a cleaner. After retiring in the 2000s, she helped organise the Owners’ Corporation of No. 13 Hung Wan Street, wholeheartedly watching over its members and residents’ interests.
