Cheng Kang

As a Shaw’s director, Cheng Kang (1924-) was renowned for his interest in exploring reality stories and his seriousness in production. He was one of the more active directors under the Shaw banner in the 1970s, and had made a number of martial arts films, including his representative work, The 12 Amazons (1972). The production of this film entailed one year of preparation and over one year of shooting. Many Shaw’s actresses appeared in the film. It was said to be made with HK$4,000,000. In addition to the emphasis on the design of combat scenes, Cheng Kang also incorporated many exciting special effects and special optical effects into the movie.
