Alexander Fu Sheng

In the 1970s, Shaw’s and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) co-organized training courses in acting. Alexander Fu Sheng (1954-1983) was one of the trainees. Shortly after signing a contract as actor with Shaw’s, he was entrusted with important roles. In 1973, Chang Cheh started Chang’s Film Co. and began to make films in Taiwan. He asked for Shaw’s permission to let Alexander Fu Sheng star in Heroes Two (1974). This film gave Fu fame overnight. Subsequently, he won the Most Promising Actor Award of the 20th Asian Film Festival with Friends (1974). While under the Shaw banner, Fu appeared in many new style martial arts films, including The Brave Archer (1977), The Deadly Breaking Sword (1979) and Brave Archer and his Mate (1982). These films were very received by movie-goers, making Fu one of the most popular martial arts stars of Taiwan and Hong Kong in the 1970s. Alexander Fu Sheng died in a car accident in 1983. He was only 28 at that time.
