Ching Li

After Ching Li (1945-) joined Shaw’s in 1966, she made 3 wenyi (drama) films My Dream Boat (1967), Mist Over Dream Lake (1968) and When the Clouds Roll By (1968) in succession. After that, she shifted to period martial arts films for further career development. In Chang Cheh’s macho martial arts films - for instance, The Boxer from Shantung (1972) and The Blood Brothers (1973), etc. – she mostly appeared as the only lead actress, adding a touch of tenderness to the overall macho ambience of the films. Ching Li had worked for Shaw’s for over 10 years, during which she had made more than 50 films and bore witness to the wave of wenyi (drama) and martial arts movies.
