Ivy Ling Bo

The career of Ivy Lin Po(1940-) with Shaw’s started with her singing behind the scene. In 1961, she sang for the film The Red Chamber (1961), and in the following year, she became a contract actress with Shaw’s. She performed in The Love Eterne (1963), which won her the 2nd Golden Horse Best Acting Special Award. The film ignited the wave of Huangmei Opera films while her image of cross-acting was deeply rooted in the memory of the audience. She subsequently appeared in A Maid from Heaven (1963), Lady General Hua Mulan (1964), The Grand Substitution (1965), etc., and enjoyed considerable acclaim. In addition to having her status as a first-rate actress was firmly established, she was also regarded as one of the most popular cross-acting actresses of her time.
