Li Li-hua

Li Li-hua (or Teresa Li, 1924-), honored as the “Evergreen of the Filmdom”, was active in the movie circle even in the pre-war era. In 1952, she collaborated with Shaw & Sons and won the Special Award for Singing at the 1st Southeast Asian Film Festival (1954) with Song of Romance (1952). In the 1960s, she starred in succession in Shaw’s special genre of films depicting imperial stories, including Yang Kwei-fei the Magnificent Concubine (1962), Empress Wu Tse-tien (1963), etc. She brought the historical figures in the stories to live with her unique look in period costumes as well as her charisma and aura. Subsequently, she won the 3rd Golden Horse Best Actress Award with Between Tears and Smiles (1964).
