Lily Ho

In the 1960s, Shaw’s went to Taiwan to scout for new talents, and Lily Ho (1946-) was one of the new faces they found. After joining Shaw’s in 1965, Lily Ho always had the role of leading heroine. With her glamorous appearance in both period and modern costumes, she was full of potentials. Her wide and varied repertoire included her sensuous performance in The Knight of Knights (1966); her brilliant portrayal of dancer-cum-singer Jia Cui-cui in Hong Kong Nocturne (1967); her cross-acting of the role of Yang Wen-kuang in The 14 Amazons (1972), and her attention-grapping performance as a homosexual in Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan (1972). Lily Ho faded out of the movie screen after marriage, but many films, in which she starred, remained the classics of Shaw’s.
