The Romantic Swordsman, performed by Roman Tam, was the first awarded song in the first Top Ten Chinese Golden Songs Awards

RTHK organised the first Top Ten Chinese Golden Songs Contest in 1978. The music awards were based on the No. 1 songs of the weekly Chinese Pop Chart. It became the first song-based contest in Hong Kong’s pop scene. The Romantic Swordsman, performed by Roman Tam, was the first awarded song in the first Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award.
