The Administration Building – Former Jockey Club Headquarters, 1987

The tall building at the centre of the photo was the Administration Building, the former Jockey Club Headquarters. The 18-storey Administration Building was built in 1975. The ground floor was the car park, lobby and paddocks, with the first to eighth floors housing facilities and restaurants for Club Members, while the Club’s offices occupied the seven floors above the membership facilities. Air-conditioning plant room, lift machine room and generator room occupied the top three floors. Under the Happy Valley Re-development Project, the Administration Building was demolished in 1995 for widening the race track and a new Headquarters building was erected at its current site.
