Wang Pui Tsuen, Shek Pik, Lantau Island

In the 1950s, the Hong Kong Government decided to build a reservoir in Shek Pik Heung valley to relieve the problem of water shortage. Prior to construction there were four villages, Shek Pik Tai Tsuen, Wang Pui Tsuen, Kong Pui Tsuen and Hang Tsai Tsuen, in the valley. Construction work of the Shek Pik Reservoir commenced in 1957 and was completed in 1963.
