Waterfront of Central District

The first building on the left is Wardley House, which was the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank Office from 1865 to 1882. Pedder Street and the premises of Jardine, Matheson & Co. are seen on the far right. The house of Dent & Co. stands on the opposite side of Pedder Street. The Company was one of the leading foreign merchant houses founded in Hong Kong in the 19th century, but failed in 1867.
